Every dj-l character is an AI companion, labelled as such on every screen.
If a message suggests suicidal thoughts or self-harm, the conversation pauses and we show contacts of crisis services instead of an AI reply: in the US call or text 988; in the UK and Ireland call Samaritans 116 123; elsewhere find a free, confidential helpline at findahelpline.com. The AI is instructed never to encourage self-harm.
dj-l is 18+. Characters are instructed to stop when a user says they are under 18, and the session is restricted. Characters never produce sexual content.
We remind long-session users to take a break.
